Sam and the Prince go PS3make

I love the God of War Collection for PS3 for a variety of reasons. One of the chief reasons is that it has seemingly given various publishers the genius idea of doing the same thing with their PS2 properties. So, following in the footsteps of Team Ico and Sly Cooper, Ubisoft is apparently getting ready to put the ol’ HD shine on Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell.

Word is spreading around the Internet that these two collections have been discovered on Amazon’s French site. This, incidentally, is the same site that showed the Team Ico collection of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I guess we should file this under the rumor category, but honestly, after the success of the God of War Collection, do we really see other people not taking advantage of this idea?

Personally, I think this is a great idea, if a bit frustrating. I just spent a load of money getting all the Prince of Persia games for the PS2 in good condition. Now I find out there’s a collection coming in HD. I’m fine with that, really. That doesn’t irritate me at all. Word from the wise gentle reader, hold off on purchasing old PS2 games from a popular series. I’m just saying.

  • Mmmm….HD Sam Fisher <3

Mmmm…HD disappointment in The Warrior Within.

As exciting as these are, what I’m really looking forward to are the inevitable Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter collections. I completely missed the PS2 platform genre. I’d really like to grab them all in one go in glorious HD. Or 3D. Hi Sly.

      • PS2 had some great platformers. The Crash Bandicoot series on PSX was great as well. I think I played Crash 3 so much that I broke the disc, it was seriously that good.

I’m actually interested in that one game they are coming out with where it’s all of the Sony characters together in a PS3 game. It has Sly, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, etc. It looks to be loads of fun.

I already have the POP series on steam, I dont mind these “Upgraded” versions so much, but it is kind of annoying that they are so out of ideas that this is on of the last efforts they have to bilk more from the audience
