Help Us Give Children an Extra Life

Help Us Give Children an Extra Life

As a parent, I can’t even begin to stress how important it is that a child be given proper healthcare and a healthy childhood. I really can’t. Unfortunately, there are times where simple trips to the Doctor or E.R. can’t provide immediate fixes, and then you find out your child has something more serious than just the common cold.

There are thousands, if not millions, of children out there who won’t live long enough to see their first day of high school, or even see the next video game console to hit the shelves. Some of them might have cancer, while the rest might be suffering from other terminal illnesses. I’ve seen what cancer can do to a person, many times, and it’s always heartbreaking. The chemotherapy is rough, the side effects from all of the medications make the person sicker than they’ve ever been before, and it just takes a toll on ones spirit. Imagine a child having to go through those trials and difficulties.

On October 16th, we will be participating in Extra Life, and for 24 hours straight, we’ll be playing video games. To some it might sound like a typical night at home, but it’s been years since I’ve played any video game (or combination of them for that matter) for a solid 24 hours. I’m sure you’re asking “why are you playing video games for 24 hours? How will that help the children?” I’m glad you asked! Remember how, back in July, we blogged for 24 hours straight to raise money for One Love for Chi? It’s the same concept, but instead of blogging, we play video games. We encourage people to donate between now and then, and even during our massive gaming session, as those proceeds will go towards our local Children’s Hospital.

Like the Blogathon, every cent goes to the hospitals, and we even have a nifty page where you can go and donate. Residents of the Central Valley here in California will want to donate to either Chris or myself (Lindsey) as those proceeds will benefit the Children’s Hospital in Madera off of Avenue 20 and Highway 41, while the others who just want to donate and help any hospital can feel free to donate to whomever as we have a team. If you are unable to donate, yet you wish to help and become a member of our team to raise money for your local hospital, that’s fantastic! Email me at lindsey@worldofmeh.com and we can give you all the details on how you can sign-up and be a part of our team.

Also, we haven’t chosen our games yet, but as it gets closer to the date, we will provide more details.

To donate (even if it’s just $1.00), please go to this link:

That will take you straight to our Team World of Meh! page where you can select whom you wish to sponsor and donate to. Also, please spread the word about what we are doing and pass the link around because every little bit helps!

Thank you!
