I have some great memories of arcades. I remember this great arcade back at Crossroads or Quail Springs mall (I can’t remember which one now, this was over 15 years ago) in Oklahoma CityI remember when Luxor hotel and casino was first built out in Las Vegas, they opened up a fantastic two-level (or three-level, it’s been close to 15 years since this particular memory) arcade on the lobby floor. I remember racing go-karts and playing games at Malibu Grand Prix before it was bulldozed and a Costco was built on top of it. I remember playing the crap out of Time Crisis and Top Skater at Camelot Park (now Boomers!). Suffice it to say, I love arcades. That’s why I’m so stoked about the classic 1992 X-Men arcade game coming to XBLA and, to a lesser extent (lesser only because I don’t have a PS3), to PSN.
Announced at New York Comic Con, details are still very limited. There is no release date, and no pricing. We do know that the game will still allow six players via an online drop-in co-op mode, so you can destroy Sentinels and defeat Magneto with your friends no matter where they are. Playable characters are pulled straight from the original: Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Dazzler. We’ll update when there’s more news.
