So I was sitting here, waiting for my PSP to download a game, when I came across a most interesting piece of info. It would seem that GSC Game World, the developers, have been creating a pilot episode for a TV show based on the in-game world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
This pilot episode has been completely self funded and produced, so you know that they took this seriously. (it is their baby after all) Currently the show is being promoted to Russian and Ukrainian networks with the hopes of it becoming a full series.
I am not exactly sure how to feel about this. The trailer makes it look exciting and action packed, which would be a blessing. I don’t know how many of you have seen the movie based on the novel, but it is a slow going film with many poetic references to the land of the zone. It is a beautiful movie, but absolutely NOT the world most of us have come to know inside the games. (read a Wiki HERE)
Wait, WHAT? You don’t even know what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is???
S.T.A.L.K.E.R., is a First Person Shooter set in post incident Chernobyl. The area has been effected by an unknown source and is full of strange, and usually dangerous, mysteries. Mutant creatures, zombified soldiers, and unpredictable anomalies are scattered throughout “The Zone”. Many people(known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s) have come to “The Zone”. Some looking for riches, others simply escaping the outside world and a life they want to forget. Presented in an Open-World format, you venture into this place in search of answers. Currently there are three titles in the series, and talks of a fourth have been seen around the web. If you own a PC, I strongly recommend playing through them(SOC and Call of Pripyat at least).
<just a hint, a related review/giveaway is coming>
