WoW Makes Me Say “WOW!”

It’s been a week since PC gamers all over stopped, stood in line for a midnight release, and picked up their copy of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm! So, while you bought your individual copy, how many were sold that day?

Prior to the December 7th release of Cataclysm, the PC sales record was held by the second World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, which sold 2.8mil copies in the first 24 hours.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm was simultaneously released in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand with a later release on December 9 in Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

So, with a worldwide release, and previously holding the record for PC sales, just how many copies of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm were actually sold within the first 24 hours? Well, WoW fans around the world will be pleased to hear WoW still holds the record with a ground shattering 3.3mil copies!
