Wanna see what the Cosmic Cube in the new Captain America movie looks like? Here’s a hint: it has six sides and is a cube. Also, the Red Skull wants it a lot.
Courtesy of superherohype.com via SFX Magazine we have our first look at at least one of the MacGuffins in Captain America: The First Avenger. The source of unlimited creative or destructive potential, able to give you dominion over the universe while fitting in the palm of your hand, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Cosmic Cube.
Yeah. That’s all sorts of a cube. In the comics the Cosmic Cube was created by the terrorist group A.I.M. (that’s Advanced Idea Mechanics for you laymen) and had the power to do virtually anything the holder of it wishes. It’s like a genie in a lamp without the annoying Disney musical numbers. In the movie I would guess that it would function the same, though its origin is different. It is found in a cave belonging to Norse god Odin along with other magical treasures like the Infinity Gauntlet. And it seems that, just like in the comics, Nazi super villain Red Skull (played by Hugo Weaving here) wants to get his hands on it. Or… has gotten his hands on it. Or hand. Or… whatever.
Captain America: The First Avenger comes out July 22, 2011.
