If you follow me on Twitter and were on yesterday you would’ve seen me talking about the recent news regarding the Metal Gear Solid franchise: Konami has teamed up with musterbrand to deliver a clothing line inspired by the outfits worn in-game by the Peace Walker characters. I know what most of you are thinking, because a lot of the time game inspired clothing comes out terribly, but I’ve got some pics and these clothes kick ass!
As of right now the line is for men only, and there was no mention if they intend to release some chick-friendly duds (but honestly, just buy the t-shirts and stuff in a smaller size if you really want them). It will also be a complete like with coats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, pants, and more featuring images from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. There are also plans to add more items to the collection on a quarterly basis as well as when special events occur throughout the year. According to the press release the threads will be available online only starting on April 11th for residents of Canada and the U.S. No prices have been given at this time. I imagine that, since this line is specifically geared towards fans of the games, that the clothes will be reasonably priced, however I think it should be expected that items like the jacket be around the $60.00+ price range.
Based on the screenshots below everything looks really well done. One downside is that the button-up and t-shirts aren’t tagless, but the shirts do appear to be made of soft cotton. The material used for the pants looks heavy-duty and have a cargo/utility quality to them. The button-up, one of my personal favorites, also appears to be of a heavier material, has covered buttons, and a military edge. The jacket is one that confused me the most as I can’t really tell for sure what was used to create it. Without touching it or looking at a label I honestly couldn’t say if it were made of leather or a faux material, but it does look really neat – especially with all of the extra embellishments.
