Techland and Deep Silver’s zombie survival experience just got a North American publisher. Square Enix is now going to make sure that we all get to see what the zombie apocalypse does to a idyllic vacation spot.
It kind of makes sense too if you think about it. One of the things that is boasted about when there is talk of Dead Island is the RPG like leveling system. And as we all know, Square Enix is one of the biggest names when it comes to RPG’s. So putting the two together just seems like a natural fit.
“Square Enix’s impressive distribution and marketing capabilities, combined with their proven success with launching top-notch AAA titles, makes them the absolute best partner for Dead Island,” said Deep Silver Chief Operating Officer Geoff Mulligan. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with their dedicated and talented team and look forward to collaborating with them in order to bring Dead Island to gamers.” Want more quotes? We’ve got more quotes. “Dead Island is a truly extraordinary title and we couldn’t be more excited about leveraging our unified Square Enix resources in bringing it to audiences in the Americas.” said Mike Fischer, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix, Inc.
In case you need a reminder, which you shouldn’t because this game sounds awesome and you should be paying attention to it, Dead Island is a first person zombie survival experience where you have to escape the world’s worst vacation spot. A zombie outbreak on a small resort island makes an even smaller group of survivors fight for their lives in a…er, living…world where weather changes, zombies can pop up anywhere and customizable weapons can make anything into a potent undead slaughtering tool. It has four customizable character classes, four player co-op and one kick ass trailer. Oh, by the way, the trailer is below, because I love you, and so does Dead Island. It will drop this fall for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
