E3 2012: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

See, because it’s revenge…and vengeance…Revengeance. Ok, so ignore the fact that “revenge” and “vengeance” are synonyms with nearly identical definitions. Think of it as just a really badass sounding name, and when you think of it that way, you’ll realize that it doesn’t HAVE to make sense, it just HAS to sound badass. Which it does. Regardless, Konami gave us a look at Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance at this year’s E3, and I like what I see. Do you want to know why I like what I see? Two words: Platinum Games.

I’ve had a hard-on for Platinum Games since their Wii debut, MadWorld. That hard-on intensified to boner-breaking strength with Bayonetta (I didn’t think this hard-on analogy through…) and Vanquish, and I hope to see it continue with the upcoming Anarchy Reigns. I have absolute faith that they will continue their pattern of mind-blowingly entertaining and beautiful action gameplay in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and make Raiden a bona fide action hero.

From Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami:

METAL GEAR fans and action game fans alike will appreciate the latest addition to the METAL GEAR universe, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE. We believe this studio collaboration between Kojima Productions and Platinum Games will deliver one of the best action games to date, and we can’t wait for gamers to try it out.
