Star Wars 1313 Announced

At the end of last week, we were told that a new Star Wars video game franchise would be announced/revealed/teased over the course of this week and E3. The preliminary information is in, with the new franchise taking the name of Star Wars 1313, confirming rumors caused by LucasArts’ registration of the starwars1313.com domain name earlier this year. We have information and one piece of high resolution key art to work with now, but next week will see a larger debut of the title at E3 2012.

Star Wars 1313 will take players on a journey through a part of the Star Wars world that has rarely been accessible: the criminal underground. Taking its name from Level 1313, a particularly ruthless branch of Coruscant’s criminal underground, Star Wars 1313 puts you in the shoes of a bounty hunter with third-person cinematic action-adventure gameplay. The game will feature platforming, agile cover-based combat, and playable cinematics using the Unreal engine as its foundation.

From Paul Meegan, President of LucasArts:

We’re excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing. Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we’ve always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We are committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself.

I’m hooked, now it’s time to see if they can keep me on the line. Bring it on, E3. WOW ME.
