X Games Music Performances by:
- Chromeo: The unmistakable electro-funk duo of former hip hop producers Dave 1 (David Macklovitch) and P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel), Chromeo began in Montreal with 80s funk making up their DNA. Chromeo features the suit-wearing Dave 1 on guitar and vocals and P-Thugg as the synth specialist. After dropping their first album, She’s in Control in 2004, Chromeo followed four years later with Fancy Footwork, both to commercial success and critical acclaim. Since then, Chromeo has played festivals including Bonaroo, Coachella and Lollapalooza, sold out shows in Central Park and at Red Rocks, late night talk shows from Letterman to Jimmy Fallon and had their music featured in multiple popular video games and marketing campaigns. Recently dropping their fourth album, White Women, Chromeo takes their 80s-inspired music to the next level with funky melodies and smart lyrics about contemporary love.
- Skrillex: A Los Angeles native, Sonny Moore began producing under the name Skrillex in 2008, quickly making a name for himself in the emerging electronic music scene. In 2010 he released his debut EP, My Name is Skrillex, as a free download on his MySpace page. Later that year he signed with mau5trap records and toured with DeadMau5. In 2011, Skrillex formed his own label OWSLA, which within a year had launched some of the most buzzworthy names in American electronic music. One year later, Skrillex composed an original track for Disney’s Wreck It Ralph, wrote one of the biggest club hits of the year, “Wild for the Night”, with A$AP Rocky and launched his first fashion collaboration with G-Star. Since 2010, Skrillex has played over 500 shows in over 35 countries. He has six Grammy award wins and was the most-played artist on SoundCloud in 2013. Early this year, Skrillex released his first studio album Recess and landed his first Rolling Stone cover.
- Snoop Dogg: Multi-platinum artist, actor and entertainment icon Snoop Dogg is at the forefront of popular culture with award-winning albums and songs, multiple films, lifestyle products, philanthropic efforts, and digital ventures. Snoop Dogg has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and received multiple GRAMMY® nominations. Since 1993, he has released twelve albums and collaborated with artists across all genres of music, making him one of the most defining artists in hip hop history. Most recently, Snoop under the moniker Snoopzilla, released his album 7 Days of Funk, a collaboration with Dam-Funk, in December of 2013 on Stones Throw Records. In April of last year, Snoop released his reggae and dancehall-influenced album Reincarnated under the moniker Snoop Lion. Reincarnated debuted at #1 on the Billboard Reggae Chart. As a DJ under the moniker DJ Snoopadelic, Snoop has been tearing up festivals and clubs around the world for nearly four years.
- Wiz Khalifa: A military brat, Wiz Khalifa had lived all over the world before he even entered high school. At just 12 years old, Wiz was already recording and producing his own records in his father’s Oklahoma studio. Settling in Pittsburgh during high school, Wiz continued recording at a local studio, where he was discovered and signed to Rostrum Records. Wiz dropped his first full-length album his senior year of high school. In 2010, Wiz released his second album, Kush & Orange Juice as a free download. The success of Kush & Orange Juice garnered the attention of Atlantic Records, who signed Wiz that same year. He headlined his Waken Baken Tour later that year, selling out nearly all 50 venues across the U.S. In 2011, Wiz released his first single for Atlantic/Rostrum, which gained him breakout fame as “Black and Yellow” became a Pittsburgh anthem. Recently, Wiz dropped his fourth album, Blacc Hollywood.
