Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Gamescon Preview Announced!

Remember ArenaNet’s no subscription fee MMO, Guild Wars 2? Well, after almost two years, it is getting its first expansion, Heart of Thorns. With no release date announced yet, fans were quite welcoming of the news of a future Beta weekend starting August 7th and ending August 10th. However, Arenanet has announced that there will be a preview of HoT on the show floor at Gamescon, leading into the Beta weekend and will have demo stations open to all attendees at the Twitch booth (Hall 9, Booth A-060).

The Beta for Heart of Thorns will be open to those players who have pre-purchased it. For the Beta Weekend Event, players around the world who purchase Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will be able to play all of the content in the beta test using their existing Guild Wars 2 accounts starting at 12:00 p.m. PDT on Friday, August 7, and running until 12:00 p.m. PDT on Monday, August 10.The Beta will include the first story instances of the new area called Maguuma Jungle, a look at the new lore based profession Revenant, the new end-game mastery system, as well as new weapons and skills for all professions.

ArenaNet announced that progress made in this Beta will be able to be carried over to the next opportunity for Beta. This is to allow players a look at long-term character development through the Beta process.

At Gamescon, there will also be a Guild Wars 2 tournament hosted through their twitch.tv website all throughout the convention. Check back closer to Gamescon for more information on the tournament. For a full schedule of livestream programming and other activities at Gamescom, please check out the ArenaNet gamescom 2015 web page.

Doug bashes his fists against the keyboard and eventually a piece of video is made, sometimes it is even funny. Some of his gaming accomplishments are: completing a living Pokedex on the Pokebank, 1000 pointing BCFX: Black College Football: The X-perience: the Doug Williams Edition, and only crying five times during the Kingdom Hearts series.
