Burnout Revenge Backwards Compatibility Is (Burn)Out Of The Question

Was that a little bit of a stretch? Ehh… nah. I’ll stick to my guns (or my cars) on this one. (Got ’em again. Doug, you’re on a roll.)

Criterion announced this past Summer that they will be bringing their “open world” Burnout Paradise to the Xbox One through the Backwards Compatibility program in the near future. This has fans wondering, “What else will they bring?”

The sad answer? Pretty much nothing. They have already said that an HD collection would be nice but they moved on to better things. Now, they have said they will not be bringing over the closed-track Burnout Revenge to the new generation. There was no other comment from Criterion on the matter, but many want to know why. You can see the tweet located here.

I get it. We want our old games to work on the new console. However, we need to accept that not all will make the cut. ESPECIALLY the ones that were brought over from the first generation of the Xbox! Not only is this a game technically from two generations ago, but the online servers have since been shut down, since April 13th, 2012 to be more precise. So why would we need a single console game to be programmed, when we already have Paradise that runs better, is newer, and isn’t from two generations ago? I don’t know, do we feel entitled to have EVERY game on the One? (If this is the case, they better be bringing over BCFX: Black College Football: The X-perience – The Doug Williams Edition.)

What do you think? Should we try to limit what gets brought into the future?

Doug bashes his fists against the keyboard and eventually a piece of video is made, sometimes it is even funny. Some of his gaming accomplishments are: completing a living Pokedex on the Pokebank, 1000 pointing BCFX: Black College Football: The X-perience: the Doug Williams Edition, and only crying five times during the Kingdom Hearts series.
