Maybe you’ve heard of this tiny start up called Bungie and their indie game Destiny. It certainly addicted a few people over the last couple of years (including myself). Well, Activision revealed a great deal of information prior to their quarterly earnings call today.
“Activision Publishing, along with its partners at Bungie, expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016 and to release a full game sequel in 2017,” the investor note reads. Activision also stated that 25 million players have logged more than 3 billion hours in Destiny. (editors note: I may be responsible for 1 one of those billion, or at least it feels like it).
Originally the sequel was supposed to launch this year, but instead we are getting an expansion, which is great news to players that, while loving The Taken King, have been a bit disappointed in the lack of additional content coming their way. Hopefully we hear more after the call today, and we will let you know every detail as soon as we can!
