A leak from an internal Nintendo US marketing budget and schedule overview for 2016 recently occurred, and with it came a lot of speculation. However, due to the newly announced Pokémon titles, the leak has gained some credibility.
The leak had mentioned a Pokémon code name Niji, whose assets have been updated since the announcement. Along with this, Nintendo has changed the asset file names from Niji after people started drawing connections to the leaks. What else has been pointed out in the leak? A couple of major releases, as well as mysterious code names.
According to the report, the Nintendo NX (the next generation of Nintendo consoles) will release towards the end of this year, as well as a Zelda NX. It is possible this will be handled in the same manner as Twilight Princess for the GameCube and Wii, a port from one console to the next at the same time. I have to say, if this is true, I may finally jump back into the Nintendo Console game, since I skipped the Wii U entirely.
While these are the biggest bits, there are multiple games that don’t have actual names, just code-names. These include:
- Caviar F – an all-ages smaller-budget game set for release in the fall.
- Torte City – a big-budget game for all gamers releasing in the summer.
- Cadillac – an all-ages smaller-budget title for late summer.
- N-Stars – a big-budget game for all ages releasing in fall or during the holiday season.
That’s all the information we get, but there has been some speculation as to white the titles are. Torte City is very likely a new Animal Crossing title that is true to the style, unlike Happy Home Designer or Amiibo festival. It has been almost four years since New Leaf, so it is possible. The other one that is very likely is N-Stars being a new Mario Kart title, with Mario Kart 8 turning two this May. A less likely candidate would be Super Smash Bros. whose newest entry is only a year and a half, however the title definitely makes me think as such. The others are total mysteries to me.
So what do you think? Are you interested in a new Nintendo console? What are the new titles? Let us know in the comments.
