Miitomo Arriving in the U.S. on March 31st

Miitomo, the social app that also happens to be Nintendo’s first foray into the smartphone market, is hitting the United States on March 31st. A “free-to-start social experience”, Miitomo allows you and your friends to interact and have conversations through your Mii avatars, dress up your Mii, and even take real-life photos with the aforementioned Mii in them.

Since Miitomo’s launch in Japan on March 17th, it has quickly become the #1 free app in both the App Store and Google Play storefronts and was downloaded over 1 million times in the first three days after launch.

There is still time to preregister for Miitomo. By signing up for a free Nintendo account at https://Miitomo.com before March 31st, you will receive a notification when the app is ready to download, as well as receive Platinum Points for the newly revamped My Nintendo rewards program, which will launch the same day as Miitomo.

Not stopping there, Nintendo is also giving its Wii U and Nintendo 3DS eShops on Nintendo.com an overhaul. Purchasing from Nintendo.com will, of course, earn you Gold Points for your My Nintendo account, which can be redeemed for various games, downloadable content and other virtual goodies.

It looks as though Nintendo has finally arrived to the Smartphone market, and if Japan is any indication, they arrived with a big splash. This is only the beginning, and it will be exciting to see where Nintendo goes from here.

Are you looking forward to Miitomo? Will you be downloading it on launch day and interacting with your friends in funny ways? Let us know below, and hopefully we will see you in the wonderful world of Miitomo when it launches this Thursday, March 31st.
