Buried deep in gaming history is a little known game that came out last century named Doom. While it had only a minor impression on gaming, the franchise stumbles on. . .
Ok, Sarcasm off.
Any project attached to id Software is going to garner attention. Even the tepid response to Rage was littered with caveats about how inspired and creative portions of the game were. After 12 years, we are finally getting a new Doom, and holy crap does it look amazing. On top of the footage we’ve been shown, Bethesda has released a new multiplay trailer in anticipation for the Closed Beta which runs from March 31- April 3 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, assuming you pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order.
If you have questions about the beta, redemption, or just want to beg id to offer an open beta soon, you can hop over to doom.com/beta.
The most interesting part of the beta (to me anyway) is the chance to use the SnapMap editor. There will likely be a huge stream of content coming at us from the beta, and seeing how people use the new feature should be fascinating .
DOOM will launch worldwide on May 13, 2016 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
