Asagao Academy Available Now

I said goodbye to traditional television about four years ago, spending my time instead with games, books, comics, and Youtube. Youtube is a space with thousands of truly talented, creative people, especially in the gaming space. I love Youtube to the point that I create content on my own channel, inspired by those I’ve watched over the years. Over time, I came to regularly tune into channels like the Game Grumps, JonTron, PeanutButterGamer, and Extra Credits. I’ve followed some of these creators’ more ambitious projects as well, such as albums or documentaries. Now, a fan-made visual novel, called Asagao Academy, has arrived that lets the players date the Youtubers behind Normal Boots, as well as interact with the Hidden Block crew.

Asagao Academy is available for free on their website and was created with the free engine Ren’Py. Know that there will be no hentai scenes in the game; its purpose is mostly for fun and is a playful story with many branching paths. The people these characters are based off of were supportive of the fan game, which had a fairly successful Kickstarter. There was even some fun cosplay by ProJared and his wife to celebrate the game’s development.

In truth, I’ve always been obsessed with these humorous videos and am subscribed to pretty much all of them. Just about anything that hits the Normal Boots website I jump on within hours of release. Have I ever wanted to date Satchbag or The Completionist? Not really, but I can only imagine how fun the game must be for fans! Download the game here and be sure to share with us your thoughts on social media. I’ve already downloaded the game, but have yet to play it. Maybe I’ll review it later on. Either way, it’s free and was developed specifically for fans of Youtube Gamers and that’s pretty damn cool.

Most people bleed red. Alex bleeds pixels. Hailing from the deep mountains of WV, land of beautiful landscapes and internet scarceness, Alex can be found writing about games in every sense. Retro games are his life, spending more time with his GBA than his PS4. Drop by one of the social doodads for deep discussions about gaming!
