DOOM Open Beta Announced and More!

Get your BFGs and your Super Shotguns ready. After a successful Closed Beta, Bethesda announced today that their Open Beta will be coming later this month! When? Starting April 15, DOOM will be playable to anyone who downloads the Beta. Running through the 17th, more players will be able to experience the fast paced arena shooter prior to release!

Similarly to the Closed Beta, the Open Beta will allow players to level up their characters, unlock weapons, colors, patterns, and experience the next great shooter experience. Each platform (PC, PS4 and Xbox One) will get to try their hands at Team Deathmatch and Warpath on the Heatwave and Infernal maps.

Looking towards the future past the Beta, Bethesda is excited to have players try the new SnapMap experience that allows players to create, share and play new game modes and maps. Even after launch, the SnapMap mode will receive content updates and enhancements. Multiplayer will receive new game modes as well as updates. Both of these types of updates will be free to players.

On the paid DLC front, three premium multiplayer DLC packs will be released starting this Summer. The first pack will give players access to:

  • Three new maps
  • One new weapon
  • One new playable demon
  • One new armor set
  • One new piece of equipment
  • New hack modules and taunts
  • New customization colors and patterns

Each pack will cost $14.99, or get the whole shebang at $39.99, saving about $5 after tax.
