Capcom Goodness in new Humble Bundle

Capcom Goodness in new Humble Bundle

Ah, what a great service Humble Bundle is. For those who are unaware, Humble Bundle has been teaming up with game developers and charity groups in an effort to raise money for those in need, by providing heavily discounted games in bundles. While they mostly deal in PC games, mobile and console games, books, comics, and movies have been featured. Over the years, many larger companies have been allowing their games on the service, including Nintendo, Marvel, and now Capcom.

Capcom needs little introduction; its one of the largest Japanese development teams in the world, giving life to classics such as Megaman, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and many more. This week’s deal is supporting the Kumamoto Japan Earthquake Relief Fund via GlobalGiving. Kumamoto is a Japanese city that has been victim to major earthquake damage, and users can help those in need of food and emergency supplies by buying games. All funds raised by buying the Capcom Super Turbo HD Remix Bundle will be going to local efforts to help those affected by the earthquakes.

Now to the featured games in the bundle. Humble Bundle has tiers, the first of which one can pay any amount as low as a dollar. The games at this level include Strider, Resident Evil Revelations 2: Episode 1, the Lost Planet 3 Complete Pack, and Bionic Commando: ReArmed. Also included at this tier are two coupons, one for the Deluxe Edition of Resident Evil Revelations 2, the other for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen.

Using the coupon makes for a good deal on a great PC port of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen.

The second tier price is based on the average donation of the bundle, which is currently sitting at $8.92. Donating at this level gets one the previous games mentioned as well as some solid titles. At this level, donors will receive Resident Evil Revelations, DMC: Devil May Cry, and Remember Me. Another game on this level is actually one of my favorite games of all time, which I’ve bought on just about every console its available on, Resident Evil 4. Normally these games sit at about twenty dollars, so getting all of them under ten is amazing. Add in the fact that it helps charity and more games will be added to this tier as time goes on, makes little reason not to donate to the cause.

Finally, there is another tier, which is unlocked after paying fifteen dollars or more. The two games at this level are Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition and Resident Evil 6. Plenty of big name franchises are represented in this bundle, most of which are awesome games. Of course, I’m a little disappointed that RE6 is at the highest tier, being as it wasn’t as good as the other games, but either way this is a great opportunity for those reluctant to try a Capcom franchise.

Of course, all of these will require Steam to play, which is also free to download and use. Personally, I love seeing larger franchises on Humble Bundle. I love the indie games they often showcase, but there can be some poor titles mixed in the bunch. If anything, all of the games listed in this bundle were developed by a single company, meaning there’s a lot of coherence and similar themes between games. It makes the bundle feel more wholesome.

Be sure to hit Humble Bundle’s website for all the latest causes and deals. They also have tons of other Capcom games on sale in the Humble Store, with games like Duck Tales: Remastered and Street Fighter IV. See, gaming isn’t a waste of time, especially when the mere act of buying a game can save a life for feed the hungry. I wholeheartedly recommend frequenting Humble Bundle.
