Civilization VI E3 2016 Walkthrough Displays The Evolution of the Franchise

Twenty-five years have passed since the release of the first Civilization title. Since then, the world has evolved exponentially with the technological field growing rapidly. On October 21st, 2016, 2K and Firaxis Games will release Civilization VI on Windows, OS X, and Linux; currently there is still no announcement as to whether or not Civilization VI will be released on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

The Civilization VI trailer is narrated by Sean Bean and shows the evolution of the Civilization franchise. Civilization focuses on the players decision as a turn-based strategy game that can be played solo or in multiplayer. In Civilization VI the map and planning becomes more important with district functions and wonders.  Agriculture is used for food and farms can be added over fields to produce more resources. As the Civilization grows granaries and watermills can be built to help improve the living conditions of settlers. The player can send out explorers to discover new settlement areas to build upon and create trade paths in order to trade goods between the settlements.

New districts can be created with their own special abilities and focuses. Religious centers focus on strengthening the faith of the people. Barracks can be built to increase the military strength of the empire. Barracks help fight off invades and by slaughter the enemy at its source, the player can secure additional land. Trade agreements allow for the player to trade resources with other empires by arranging mutually beneficial exchanges.

In Civilization VI,the player can control the political structure of the empire in order to further guide the growth of the civilization. Military, economic, and cultural growth can be decided to provide new opportunities such as the theater and arts district which allows for people to further express themselves.

Industrializing allows for greater growth but also requires more resources for said growth. As resources become more limited, competition grows with other nations seeking resources to further grow their empire. When dealing with the enemy it seems like it is best to shut down the enemy completely so they can not regroup to fight another day. Build world-famous landmarks to leave a lasting mark on the world and remember to reach for the stars.
