Ghost Recon Wildlands Gets A Release Date

We got a glimpse of Wildlands last year at E3 but this year we received quite a bit more from Ubisoft Paris including a March 17, 2017 release date for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.  Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a military shooter set in a massive open world, entirely playable in single-player or up to four-player co-op.

In Wildlands players will get to discover Bolivia in a setting a few years from now, in which the country has been turned into a narco-state by the Santa Blanca drug cartel. Players will go behind enemy lines and assume the role of Ghost soldiers in an attempt to take down the Santa Blanca cartel’s operation, breaking alliances between the drug lords and the corrupted government, and saving the Bolivian population from El Sueño, Santa Blanca’s ruthless leader. Wildlands will give players total freedom of choice to accomplish their missions however they want and see the world’s reaction to their actions.

The in game footage that Ubisoft revealed had me intrigued to say the least. The walkthrough featured a co-op playthrough of a single mission where you had to discover intel on the whereabouts of El Pozolero, basically the cartels man in charge of making people disappear to say the least. After the intel is secured the mission turns into an attempt to capture El Pozolero alive by infiltrating his base of operations where I’m assuming the player choice feature will come into play. The playthrough players took more of a stealth approach but I’m sure going in guns blazing will play out totally differently. Here is the trailer shown off during the show below.

The world looks incredibly large and the graphics were stunning but I have been fooled by Ubisoft in the past with a certain Watch Dogs E3 reveal that didn’t exactly live up to the hype.  What I can say is that the plot to the game does sound incredible, who wouldn’t want to take down a drug cartel hell bent on taking over a country?  Isn’t that a dream everyone has, or is that just me? Well if you missed the gameplay walk-through fear not you can find it below.

I’m sure we will be seeing a lot more of Wildlands in the months to come but it’s looking promising so far. What do you think? We’d love to know in the comments below.
