World at War Comes to Backwards Compatibility on Xbox One

Early next month, the final chapter of the Nazi zombies story line will potentially be over when Black Ops 3 Salvation DLC releases on Xbox One and PC. For all the zombies players who are feeling nostalgic or want to see where the zombies storyline originally started, Xbox Live members can now download  Call of Duty: World at War through the backwards compatibility program.

The final zombies map from the Salvation DLC is Called Revelations, which has the zombies heroes fighting against the Shadowman and all of his evil creations on the remanent of  Kino der Toten, Shangri-La, Nacht der Untoten, Origins, Mob of the Dead, and Der Eisendrache. Currently, the main story Easter Egg for Revelations has been discovered, but there is a rumor that a super easter egg will be unlocked once the DLC comes out on PC and Xbox One.

Sadly the Salvation DLC does not include any other zombies maps from past games in the map pack, so an excellent maneuver by Treyarch to allow  World at War to be downloadable through the backwards compatibility program. Call of Duty: World at War originally released in 2008 on PC, Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3.

Call of Duty: World at War is often considered one of the best Call of Duties in the franchise’s history and many gamers around the world loved the fact that you could play the campaign with four players; it is one of the few Call of Duties that allow that. Experience the horrors of World War 2 through the eyes of  Marine Raider Private C. Miller, US Navy Petty Officer Locke, and Red Army soldier Private Dimitri Petrenko.

Also joining the backwards compatibility list is E4, Encleverment Experiment, and Funtown Mahjong. Out of all four of the games now available through backwards compatibility, World at War might be the best out of them all. Here is Major Nelson’s tweet announcing the backwards compatible titles.
