Zelda: Breath of the Wild Rumored to be Delayed

Zelda: Breath of the Wild Rumored to be Delayed

Nintendo wowed the gaming world with their official release of the Nintendo Switch, a console that combines the portability of a handheld device with that of a usual home video game system. Many were impressed with the design, as many of the rumors were true. Now some negative rumors have arisen on the net, starting with Eurogamer and moving on to sites like Mammoth Gamers. Unfortunately, Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been rumored to be delayed, possibly missing the March 2017 launch of the Nintendo Switch.

So what does this mean for a game that can assuredly sell the console to many players? For starters, we could be seeing a staggered release of the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild, with a possible Switch release a few months later. This could also be pointing to the possible delay of the Nintendo Switch altogether, which could sink Nintendo’s hardware sales for the year. A lot is riding on the Switch and as long as the release is stellar, I personally think this console will bring back Nintendo in a big way. However, botching that release could ruin the excitement Nintendo has so readily been fueling.

Once again, all of this is merely speculation, so Zelda: Breath of the Wild could come out on time. Although, the skepticism has been there even before this rumor started to spread. Ever since the game was announced to release both on Wii U and Switch back at E3, I was under the impression that it wouldn’t come out in March. Those at Mammoth Gamers are suggesting that this opens the window for that new Mario game that was teased in the Switch trailer. Mario games do have a tendency to be launch titles, at least back on the NES, SNES, and the N64.

Considering how popular Mario is and the fact that Super Mario Run will be releasing in December on mobile devices, this could be true. As of now, there is no official responses from Nintendo about that teased Mario game, so personally I find  this unlikely, but anything’s possible for Nintendo. They march to their own rhythm, which is what I like most about the company.

The next bit of information on the Nintendo Switch isn’t set to be released until January, so until then, we’ll have to enjoy the holiday line up of stellar games coming to the 3DS at the end of this year. If anything, maybe Nintendo will release the E3 demo for Wii U owners.
