Aniplex of America Announces New Acquisitions and Winter Simulcast Schedule

Anime publisher Aniplex of America, recently unveiled its simulcast schedule for the winter season, which includes the continuation of one of its previously announced acquisitions, as well as two new shows.

First up, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, the latest chapter in the anime series, based on Kazue Kato’s manga series. The A-1 Pictures produced anime series, takes place following Amaimon’s raid, as Rin’s classmates learn of his secret, and begin to distance themselves, while the academy goes on high alert, following the theft of the “Left Eye of the Impure King.” Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga will be streaming via Crunchyroll and DAISUKI, beginning on Jan. 6, 2017, at 10:30am PST. The next title unveiled, is Fate/Grand Order -First Order-, a Lay-duce produced anime film, based on the mobile game from Type-Moon. In the story, the Chaldea Security Organization tasks the main characters with investigating an “unobservable region,” that had not previously existed, in the hopes of preventing humanity’s extinction in the future. Fate/Grand Order -First Order- will be available through Crunchyroll and DAISUKI, beginning Dec. 31, 2016, at 8am PST.

The final new acquisition for the winter lineup, is A-1 Pictures’ anime adaptation of Granblue Fantasy, the RPG developed by Cygames for Android and iOS. The series follows a boy named Gran, and a talking winged lizard, Vyrn, who find themselves on a journey through the skies, after they meet Lyria, a girl who has escaped the Erste Empire, a military government intent on ruling the world. To escape the grasp of the Empire, the three head out into the skies, with a letter from Gran’s father, saying “I will be waiting at Estalucia, Island of Stars,” as their guide. The main series was delayed until April 2017, however a “Zankutinzeru Arc” special is set to premiere during the winter season. Also available on Crunchyroll and DAISUKI, Granblue Fantasy is set to debut on Jan. 21, 2017, at 4am PST.
