The Art of Splatoon Coming from Dark Horse in 2017

Comic book publisher Dark Horse Comics, today announced that fans of Nintendo’s hit Wii U shooter, Splatoon, would soon be learning even more about the title, when it releases The Art of Splatoon in the middle of next year.

Released in 2015, Splatoon was one of the more surprising popular Wii U releases for Nintendo, that saw players controlling squid-like characters, called Inklings, in competitive matches. Switching between humanoid and squid forms, players would shoot their team’s color to claim territory, or “splat” opponents, while replenishing their ink by swimming through their team’s colors. The English language edition of The Art of Splatoon is expected to be available beginning on June 13, 2017. It will feature 320 pages of artwork, including 2D and 3D illustrations of characters, maps, concept art, weapons and gear, storyboards, hand-drawn comics, and more.

This isn’t the first time that Dark Horse Comics has published an art book inspired by Nintendo’s games, the publisher previously released The Art of Fire Emblem Awakening, and The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia, with another title, The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts, also due out in 2017, on February 21st.
