Middle Earth: Shadow of War Leaked on Target’s Website

Middle Earth: Shadow of War Leaked on Target’s Website

Earlier this month, WB Games let us know about an upcoming announcement slated for March 8th. Speculation went through the roof (of course), with the 2 biggest theories being either a new Batman title, or a sequel to the 2014 hit Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Well it seems that a leak on Target’s website may have just spoiled the surprise, showing us a retail price and box art for Middle Earth: Shadow of War. Thank you Target. Thank you very much.

Shadow of Mordor was released back in 2014 and was met with critical acclaim throughout. Proving to everyone that a great Lord of the Rings licensed game can still exist. With the groundbreaking Nemesis System (why haven’t more games tried to do this yet?) and brutal orc dismembering combat, this was one of the most fun games to play for the next-gen.

According to the leak on Target’s website, Shadow of War is set for an August 2017 release. It seems very certain that all this is true if the box art is anything to go off of. It appears that WB Games may be pulling what Bethesda did back in 2015 with Fallout 4. Announcing a new game, and then saying, “Oh yeah, and it comes in a few months.”

Target’s site lists two versions: the Standard Edition for $59.99, and the Gold Edition for $99.99.

Shadow of War Gold Edition details:

• Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion
• Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion
• The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion
• The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion
• Gold War Chest
• Over $125 in total value

WB Games has yet comment on it yet, but we know they stay quiet for long. Here’s to hoping this is 100% true, and also hoping to see some orcs get beheaded in a demo at E3 2017.

UPDATE: Target has taken down the pages.

He just graduated from Western Illinois University where all he did was write. On his free time he enjoys going out to Chicago and enjoying the company of his friends. Also, Go Cubs!!! His favorite game is Borderlands 2, favorite movie is The Social Network, and his favorite TV show is Dexter. Yes, he has very diverse taste.
