Resident Evil 7: Biohazard could be the return to form fans have been waiting for. It continues to score big with critics and many people have been enjoying its horror since it released. Personally, I’ve yet to try it myself, waiting patiently to pick it up for a review later on, but I’ve seen enough of it to know just how awesome this game is. For those already finished, the first set of Banned Footage DLC is out now for PlayStation players.
Both of the Banned Footage packs will include two new scenarios, plus an extra game mode to play in. Vol. 1 includes Nightmare, which is the story of Clancy, a camera man for Sewer Gators. Clancy will have to survive hordes of enemies by crafting weapons and ammo with the goal to make it until morning. Also available in this pack is the Bedroom scenario, where Clancy must escape a locked bedroom and leave the plantation, all while avoiding Marguerite Baker. Also included in this DLC pack is an infinitely replayable Ethan Must Die mode, which is supposed to be an incredibly difficult challenge that’s separated from the events of the game. Unfortunately, Ethan Must Die mode is not supported by PSVR.
Banned Footage Vol. 2 will add even more content with two scenarios 21 and Daughters, plus the new mode Jack’s 55th Birthday. In 21, players will have to play a game of 21 with Lucas Baker, which has to be incredibly stressful. Daughters then leads to a deeper understanding about the Baker family’s life before the events of the main game. The new mode, Jack’s 55th Birthday will put players against a race against time as they serve up Jack Baker with tons of treats for his special day. As was the case with Ethan Must Die, Jack’s 55th Birthday is not playable in PSVR.
Both Banned Footage Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 will be made available to all consoles on February 21st. Also coming in Spring 2017, is Not A Hero, a new storyline that’s separate from Ethan’s tragedy. Deluxe Edition and Season Pass holders will obviously get the Banned Footage content as its available, plus an additional story with more details coming later. Altogether that’s eight new pieces of content being added to Resident Evil 7!
It’s awesome to see this plethora of post-launch support from Capcom. The new RE Engine must be pretty useful as it seems a lot of this content was added way after the final game was ready. Here’s hoping they release those tools for the modding community; I’d love to see what modders could come up with in this creepy game’s framework. Maybe put in classic horror monsters like the Xenomorph or something weird like Nicolas Cage? The possibilities would be immense.
