Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford Shows Off New Technology With Borderlands Artwork

Epic Games held an event at the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. Among the speakers was Randy Pitchford, who showed some new technology that Gearbox is working with. Now we all know Borderlands 3 is going to happen, as Gearbox has made little teases here and there. They just have not made an official announcement as of yet. At GDC, Pitchford showed us more of what Borderlands 3 could possibly look like.

Pitchford showed us a peek at this new technology and clarified that this was not a game demo. He wanted to show off this “incredible technology” and show how Gearbox plans to use this for future next-gen titles. The new technology in Unreal is able to utilize some impressive lighting effects within the 3D world and even able highlight certain aspects of the environment within the Borderlands unique art style.

As you can see, the artwork shown here is obviously somewhere from Pandora, and Pitchford was careful to not show this character’s face. He did state that Gearbox is working on a new Borderlands title (duh), and that they would make an announcement very soon. Other than that, details are still very scarce on the highly anticipated sequel. You can view the entire presentation on Polygon’s website.

He just graduated from Western Illinois University where all he did was write. On his free time he enjoys going out to Chicago and enjoying the company of his friends. Also, Go Cubs!!!
