ARMS & Splatoon 2 Nintendo Direct Arriving Tomorrow

ARMS, the next big first-party Nintendo Switch title, will be further explored in a new Nintendo Direct, tomorrow, May 17th, at 3:00 pm PT/6:00 pm ET. In addition, Splatoon 2 fans will be excited to hear that a new trailer will also be dropped for the sequel to the 2015 Wii U title. As with these announcements, there are no other details, but these usually provide a ton of great info, as well as entertaining moments.

For those unfamiliar, ARMS is a hero-character quasi-boxing title. There are a variety of different characters who each have their own special ability. For example, Spring Man can leave a shockwave behind him to repel attacks and if his health drops below 25% he can still retain his use of charge attacks. Another, Ribbon Girl, can jump in the air repeatedly and return to the ground very quickly to provide great mobility for the player. In addition, you can equip your characters with different “ARMS” such as Toaster Arms which can cause an enemy to catch fire when you punch them after charging them up, or Sparky Arms which, obviously, are charged with electricity and will stun those who come in contact with it. ARMS can be played with motion controls or buttons, and will hopefully be a great new IP that is supported for a long time. ARMS will be released on June 16th, 2017.

Splatoon 2 is a colorful third-person shooter that allows you to live out your favorite paintball dreams, all while assuming control of an Inkling who can assume the form of a kid and a squid at will. Assuming your squid form allows you to swim through the ink of your own color very fast to move about various multiplayer maps, and then pop up and return to kid form to shoot paint at opponents with a variety of weapons, such as a Splat Roller and Inkling gun. While no Single-Player Campaign has been announced yet, though the original did have one, a new co-op “horde” mode was revealed. Titled Salmon Run, up to four players can work together to get through increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Splatoon 2 is set to release on July 21st, 2017.

Make sure to tune into the Nintendo Direct to find out much more about this upcoming titles. Once again, the Direct will go live at 3:00 pm PT/6:00 pm ET and you can watch it at a bunch of places, including Nintendo.com, Nintendo’s YouTube Channel, and Nintendo’s Twitch Channel.
