Castlevania: The Series Releasing in July on Netflix

Get ready to crack those whips and fight the undead.  Castlevania is coming to  Netflix this July 7th.

Castlevania has a long and bloody history of trying to branch out into film and television.  Netflix announced in February, that it would be developing an animated series based on Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, which is the third and last Castlevania game developed for the NES.

Tonight, Netflix released a teaser trailer with a release date of July 7th. The series will consist of four-thirty minute episodes. And has also been signed for a second season.  It will also feature a new descendant of the  Belmont clan, who has yet to be announced.

The last surviving member of a disgraced clan; fights to save Eastern Europe from Dracula. Inspired by the classic NES game.

The trailer opens up to a red cartridge sitting on top of an NES. A man walks into the room, blows on the cartridge and inserts it into the console. The camera slowly moves to a menu screen, where other Netflix shows are listed, the cursor navigates to Castlevania and the actual trailer begins. We are shown the top view of the infamous castle, and a view of the main gate. The next scene shows a row of skeletons, and finally a back shot of the protagonist, and a scene of him grabbing the Vampire Killer.

The animation for the series looks fantastic, while little to no action has been shown.  You can see a glimpse someone; that resembles Sypha from Castlevania III, which could mean,  the show may have characters from Castlevania III, hidden throughout the season, or making brief cameos, as of now, the only character from the game that is confirmed is–Dracula.

You can watch the trailer in all its glory here.  Before you start watching; I encourage you to grab that cross and holy water, you’ll need it.
