ROCKFISH Games announces that their hybrid roguelike/space shooter EVERSPACE has officially launched. After hitting Steam Early Access and Microsoft Game Preview in September 2016, the v1.0 game is now open, and available on Steam, GoG.com, Xbox One, and the Windows 10 Store.

Combining a great looking space combat game with procedurally generated levels makes for a game that is different every time you play. EVERSPACE offers three different ships to choose from, each with a wide range of weapons, devices, and consumables. Damaged components can be repaired from mineable resources, or those same resources can be used to craft new equipment and modifications. Of course, gear can only take you so far, piloting skill is a requirement for progressing farther in the campaign.

Cockpit view on point

The campaign itself revolves around the player’s character finding himself clueless in the cockpit of a space fighter. The ship’s onboard AI provides contextual information to guide the player through basic training, and gradually reveals information about the world and its lore. Encounters with story character and memory flashbacks help flesh out the story behind the hero’s mysterious existence and mission. A multi-stage boss awaits in the final sector to reveal the last piece of the campaign puzzle.

ROCKFISH Games is also hard at work on future updates. Community requests, such as full joystick support and button remapping, are the first things on the roadmap. A PlayStation 4 release in Q3 2017 will coincide with the free launch of Hardcore Mode, featuring true perma-death for players who like the roguelikes classically difficult. Other content, including new ships, weapons, and a story expansion is also in the works.

About ROCKFISH Games GmbH:
A new game studio based in Hamburg, Germany, they specialize in high-quality 3D video games for PC and console. Founded by industry veterans Michael Schade and Christian Lohr, most of the dev team was built with developers who had previously worked on the Galaxy on Fire series of games.

Aaron is proof that while you can take a developer out of the game industry, it's much harder to take the game industry out of a developer. When not at his day job, Aaron enjoys teaching Axis & Allies to his kids, writing sci-fi stories, playing classic space sims on Twitch, and riding around the American Midwest on his Harley.
