We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of new screenshots from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. – Rockstar Games

While the news is shocking, it’s no surprise. Rockstar has a history of delaying games in order to make sure their fans get the best experience possible. Grand Theft Auto V, alone saw several delays in its production schedule. It only serves to benefit the fans and the company to ensure that they will release a quality product, and the best experience possible.   Red Dead Redemption 2 will be built from the ground up for the next generation of consoles, and hardware, which is one of the reasons for the game’s delay.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Red Dead Redemption 2,  it is the sequel to Red Dead Redemption, which followed the story of outlaw John Marsten, and his quest to hunt down his former gang and be forgiven for his crimes in the past.  No story elements have been released for the sequel.

The news is devastating to fans who were hoping to play the game in the fall and into the winter.  But Rockstar did release a few new screenshots to tide us over until the release in the spring.  If you want to follow up on all the new Red Dead Redemption 2 developments, you can visit Rockstar’s Newswire.

For now, you can enjoy the beautiful screenshots from the game.
