Square Enix has just announced that their newest JRPG is titled Lost Sphear. Developed by Square Enix’s Tokyo RPG Factory, the same studio who developed the beautiful I Am Setsuna in 2016, Lost Sphear looks to bring you into a world that is on the brink of fading into nothingness.
As Kanata, you awaken to find that your home and loved ones are beginning to disappear. According to Square Enix, “Kanata and his comrades set out to rebuild the world around them with the power of Memory by manifesting thoughts into matter.” While the tone, beautiful music, and gameplay are very reminiscent of I Am Setsuna, Square Enix is looking to enhance the ATB battle system and give more freedom like the ability to move around during battle. Not only that, they are also emphasizing that there will be “seamless environments, and various locations to explore.”
Lost Sphear is set to release in early 2018 on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
