Metroid Prime 4 Teased During Nintendo Direct

Metroid Prime 4 teaser featured

The Nintendo Direct has just wrapped up, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from Nintendo in the next couple years, at least as far as games go. There was no word on things like the Switch’s online features or the virtual console, but there were several games teased during the video presentation. One of which brought a cheer to my throat. Metroid Prime 4 is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch.

Unfortunately, no further details for Metroid Prime 4 have been shared by Nintendo as of right now. Whether there will be additional details shared throughout the week is still up in the air, but I find that to be highly unlikely. At the end of the day though, this is one of the top game requests by fans.

Metroid has been one of the most celebrated franchises by Nintendo, with several entries being listed as some of the best games of all time. Super Metroid even created a whole new genre alongside Castlevania‘s influence. It’s a play type that many indie developers have followed as well, creating excellent games like Shantae and the Half Genie Hero and future titles like Dead Cells. In fact, I would go to say that Metroid is second only to Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda when it comes to popularity.

I kind of wished a 2D Metroid game would have announced instead, but this gives me an excuse to go through the Metroid Prime series. I have yet to finish any of them, so its time to go behind Samus’ visor to blast some space pirates!

Of course, I’m also the guy that still hopes AM2R would get an official port to the Switch. A man can dream. . .
