Owlcat Games projected game Pathfinder: Kingmaker is based on the tabletop roleplaying game Pathfinder by Paizo. The story is based on an already published campaign of the same name, will be written by RPG veteran Chris Avellone, and will feature recognizable locations and characters from that campaign and the Pathfinder universe. The game follows in the spirit of games like Baldur’s Gate, Divinity Original Sin, and Pillars of Eternity, and will be an isometric single-player experience.
The joy of tabletop RPGs is open exploration and thats something Owlcat Games hopes to preserve with Pathfinder: Kingmaker. Not only will players be pit against trials, adventures, and monsters but will also be able to establish a kingdom and watch it be shaped and grow according to player choices.
The campaign started on June 6th, 2017 and reached is fully funded goal of 500,000 with 15 days left to go! To celebrate Owlcat thanked their backers, a GIF of the team celebrating, and added some new stretch goals one to making the camping experience more engaging than simply “resting” and a character class, Magus. If those goals get reached more character archetypes will be revealed!
Now that Pathfinder: Kingmaker is Fully Funded backers and consumers can expect to see the game available Summer 2018. So we have a bit of a wait, but fans of Pathfinder and classics like Baldur’s Gate, Ice Wind Dale, and others will eagerly anticipate Pathfinder: Kingmaker’s release.
