Next Up Hero Announced For PC and Home Consoles

Aspyr Media and Digital Continue, announce Next Up Hero for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo switch.

Next Up Hero is an arcade action-adventure driven by the players, in which they take turns fighting and dying.  Working together to defeat different types of enemies.  You will be able to choose from nine different heroes; who have an assortment of different weapons and abilities to suit your play style, from swords and rocket launchers to laser turrets, bongo drums, and boomerangs.  The most interesting thing about Next Up Hero–is when you die–the next player will be able to use your character’s echo to help aid them through the rest of the level, and if that player dies–his echo will be used to aid the next player, along with the other players who have died.

The game will feature Rogue-esque levels, which is sure to keep the party going.  The closed beta launches in Austin today and will move into steam early access in the fall of 2017, and a full release is planned for 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Next Up Hero is the first original game from developer Digital Continue, founded by industry veteran Joe Tringali, the co-founder of 5TH Cell, creators of ScribblenautsLock’s Quest and Drawn to Life.  Which is rather awesome, having played the Scribblenauts games and Drawn to Life, the game is sure to focus on creativity and add something different and it’s also good to see that there is a game being developed that focuses on community and giving everyone a chance to play.  Digital Continue also plans on shaping the game with community feedback, which seems to be the growing trend, which will hopefully shape into a good experience and one that will grow into the industry.  I’m excited to see where this game goes.
