Gundam Wing and Revolutionary Girl Utena Get Holiday Blu-ray Releases

Right Stuf, Inc. and Sunrise Inc. today announced that one of its more well-known Mobile Suit Gundam series, Gundam Wing, would be getting a new release, including the Endless Waltz movie, while Nozomi Entertainment confirmed Blu-ray release details for Revolutionary Girl Utena’s Black Rose and Apocalypse sagas.

For those of you old enough to remember, Gundam Wing made itself known during the days when Toonami was on in the middle of the day, with Dragon Ball Z and Yu Yu Hakusho, not at 11pm. While not the best of the Mobile Suit Gundam series, that is a whole other debate, it was popular, and its cast of angsty good-looking guys helped to broaden the audience.

The Gundam Wing series will be released on both Blu-ray ($74.99) and DVD ($49.99) on Nov. 7, 2017, split in to two collections. The first will include episodes 1-25 and the second, episodes 26-49, with English and Japanese audio and English subtitle options. On Dec. 5, 2017, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz will be released on both Blu-ray ($59.99) and DVD ($44.99).  It will contain both OVA and movie versions of Endless Waltz (Japanese and English audio and English subtitle options), as well as the never-before-released Gundam Wing: Operation Meteor (Japanese with English subtitles).

A Blu-ray Collector’s Ultra Edition ($269.99) will also be available on Dec. 5, 2017, containing all the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing TV series, the Operation Meteor OVA, and both the OVA and Movie versions of Endless Waltz. Additional on-disc extras include the New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop Picture Drama and cast interviews. Physical extras with the edition will include 5 large art cards, 5 small art cards, 3 posters, a 5-piece metal pin set, and a 180-page hardbound full-color art book featuring detailed key art, promotional artwork, mecha and character design galleries, staff and cast interviews, storyboards, and more.

Revolutionary Girl Utena fans can expect to see the Blu-ray ($49.99) version of the Black Rose Saga, the second of the three-part series, on Nov. 7, 2017. On Dec. 5, 2017, Nozomi will release the third and final part of the classic series, the Apocalypse Saga, on Blu-ray ($79.99).

For those of you who love collector’s editions, a Revolutionary Girl Utena 20th Anniversary Ultra Edition Complete Series Blu-ray Collection ($224.99) will also be made available. The collection will include all three Sagas as well as the theatrical feature, in a special deluxe 20th Anniversary Edition box, with a replica Rose Seal ring, a replica Black Rose Seal ring, and a 264-page art book.
