Geordi La Forge coming to Star Trek Online

Geordi La Forge coming to Star Trek Online

Great news for  Star Trek Online players,  Perfect World Entertainment Inc. and Cryptic Worlds Studios announced: Levar Burton will be reprising his role of Geordi LaForge for the newest season of Star Trek Online.

The first episode will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation and releases on September 12. The second featured episode kicks off Star Trek Online’s next major update, Season 14 – Emergence, and launches this October.

Captains can experience a new Star Trek: The Next Generation-themed episode titled “Beyond the Nexus.” For the first time ever, they will encounter Starfleet Captain Geordi La Forge, brought to life by actor LeVar Burton. Players will join La Forge and his crew as they investigate a distress call from a Galaxy-class ship whose crew is being mind-controlled by a mysterious energy source.

It’s hard to believe that Next Generation is 30 years old, but it’s great to see that Levar Burton is ready to reprise his most infamous role, it’s sad to see that he isn’t with his iconic visor, but having Captain La Forge back in the Trek is exciting enough.

LeVar Burton is known for his iconic portrayal of La Forge on the television series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, which aired for seven seasons and is still available on Netflix; if you get the chance, the show wonderfully introduces fans into the Star Trek universe, which is easier to follow than most subsequent series in the franchise, and is also home to one Trek’s legendary captains: Jean Luc Picard.

And if you’re curious, Star Trek Online is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game where players can pioneer their own destiny as Captain of a Federation starship, become a Klingon Warrior and champion the Empire through the far reaches of the galaxy, or rebuild the Romulan legacy as the commander of a Romulan Republic Warbird. In Star Trek Online, players have the opportunity to visit iconic locations from the popular Star Trek universe, reach out to unexplored star systems and make contact with new alien species. Star Trek Online is currently available on PC, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.
