Mewtwo Exclusive Raids Coming to Pokemon Go

Mewtwo Exclusive Raids Coming to Pokemon Go

Earlier today, Niantic Games released a press statement regarding their Pokemon Go event at Yokohama, Japan’s Stadium. Like Niantic’s event in Chicago, Illinois, thousands of trainers in attendance had the opportunity to catch Pokemon that were previously region locked while also having the opportunity to catch Mewtwo and add it to their Pokédexes. At the moment, there is no word whether or not the event in Yokohama, Japan had any technical difficulties.

Trainers in attendance had the opportunity to battle against the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo at the Pokémon GO Stadium event in Yokohama, Japan.  After a hard-fought battle, trainers in attendance were able to defeat the psychic menace and get even closer to catching them all.  Niantic has stated that trainers around the world will soon have the opportunity to battle and catch Mewtwo with the new Exclusive Raid Battle feature within the coming weeks.

“New Exclusive Raid Battles are similar to existing Raid Battles, with a few notable differences. Exclusive raids will periodically appear at Gyms around the world; however, unlike existing raids, Trainers will be invited to join an Exclusive Raid Battle. To receive an invitation to participate in an Exclusive Raid Battle, Trainers must have successfully completed a raid recently, by defeating the Raid Boss, at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place. The invitations will include an advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place, giving them ample time to coordinate with other Trainers before taking on the powerful Raid Boss.”

At the moment, Mewtwo is the first and only Pokémon that Trainers will be able to face in Exclusive Raid Battles.  Niantic has stated that other powerful Pokémon may also start to hatch from the Raid Eggs found at Exclusive Raid Battles over the next several weeks; the press release also stated that trainers should start power up their Pokémon and battle in raids at Gyms nearby to prepare for their battle with Mewtwo.

While trainers around the world wait for Mewtwo to come to Pokemon Go, they will have the opportunity to catch any of the Legendary Birds that they might have missed. In celebration of trainers around the world defeating thousands of the Legendary Pokémon in Raid Battles, Niantic is giving Trainers another chance to catch Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia;  all four of the Legendary Pokémon will return to Raid Battles between August 14 through August 31.  If you have yet to catch them, this is a great opportunity to fill your Pokedex.
