Among many other reveals, the Nintendo Nindies Showcase gave us a brand new trailer for SteamWorld Dig 2 and, most importantly, a release date. SteamWorld Dig 2 will be headed to the Nintendo Switch on September 21st for $19.99. A few days later, though not specified exactly, the game will be available on Steam and PlayStation 4. Developer Image & Form Games, on a post announcing more information of this release date said to “expect more details (and a few surprises) very soon!”
SteamWorld Dig 2 is the sequel to 2013’s SteamWorld Dig and is a platform mining adventure that is very much a Metroidvania. In this sequel, Dorothy, a lone steambot who actually appeared in the original game as an ally, and her unlikely companion must “dig deep, gain riches and explore and underworld riddled with danger”, all in hopes to find their lost friend and protagonist of SteamWorld Dig, Rusty. Throughout the game, you unlock new abilities, go to different worlds, complete multiple challenges, and much more.
Funny enough, the developers also says that “according to Almanac.com it’s the penultimate day of summer, so we don’t miss our original summer release window!” Bravo team, bravo.
SteamWorld 2 will be available for download from the eShop on September 21st, 2017 for $19.99 and comes with around 10 hours of gameplay and multiple boss battles to keep you entertained as you master this world.
