New Features and UI Announced for Xbox One

During a live podcast at Pax West earlier this week, Xbox’s Major Nelson and Windows and Xbox’ s Platform Head Mike Ybarra discussed some of the latest features coming to the Xbox One user interface within upcoming months. Xbox Insiders will have the chance to work out any kinks or bugs in the software before it launches for all Xbox Live users.

While the player is idle, new notifications will appear on the recently updated home screen that will give massive notifications so that the player can hear and see the notification. The new notification system will make sure that players are able to be notified efficiently rather than having the notification disappear almost as quickly as it came.

Along side the system notification update, developers will now be able to display new news about their game to broadcast to their community. Two new optical modes were discussed and highlighted allowing for gamers to switch between a light and a dark mode in either the Looking for Group feature and achievement menu. If the light and dark modes are not sufficient enough, two high contrast modes will be enabled to make the darks darker and the lights brighter.

At the very end of the podcast, the two well-known Xbox figures showcased a video explaining in high detail how Xbox Live members will be able to transfer games and 4K data between their Xbox One and the new Xbox One X; players will also have the option to transfer content in bulk. Gamers now have the option to pre-order their very own Xbox One while supplies are still available.  The first wave of Xbox One consoles is scheduled to be released on November 7th for a retail price of $499.99.

What do you think about the new updates that are currently being worked on for the Xbox One dashboard? will you rockers try to get an Xbox One X when it releases later this year or will you wait until the reviews are in?
