PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Hits One Million Simultaneous Players

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Hits One Million Simultaneous Players

Just yesterday, we posted that PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTELGROUNDS, or PUBG, had just reached the 10 million units sold milestone, and today they are at it again. The news has just broke that there were over one million simultaneous Steam players battling it out for that sweet, sweet chicken dinner.

While DOTA 2 holds the record for simultaneous players at 1,291,328 in March of 2016, PUBG is getting ever closer with today’s announcement of 1,018,540. Last Week at Gamescom, PUBG surpassed DOTA 2 for most concurrent users on Steam for the first time and not a week later accomplished this feat. Interestingly enough, DOTA 2 was the first game to hit that one million concurrents on Steam milestone.

At Gamescom, the peak concurrent users was more than likely bolstered by the PUBG Invitational in which 92 players from 19 countries competed in four of PUBG’s modes; solo, duo, duo-fps, and squad. The prize pool was $350,000 and saw some exciting matches.

According to Steamdb, the next closest to PUBG and DOTA 2 in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and as of this writing it is sitting at 554,040 with a All-Time Peak of 854,801 players. The drop-off after CS:GO is substantial as H1Z1: King of the Kill currently has 70,930 players, with an All-Time Peak of 151,239.

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS simply can’t be stopped and continues to sell and add more features to its current early access state. PUBG will be arriving on Xbox One later this year with Microsoft as a publisher, and will also be receiving a new desert map, though no release has been given for that.
