September’s Gears of War 4 Maps and Update Announced

Gears of War 4 September update

Almost a year has passed since the release of Gears of War 4. For the last year, The Coalition team has worked hard on releasing new maps, characters, and character skills to enhance the community’s experience. As Gears of War 4 has updated throughout the year, new improvements, difficulties, and fixes have kept the game relevant and had C.O.Gs returning each month for an experience gain.

September’s Gears of War 4 Maps are Mercy and Harbor Haze. Players will be able to download the new maps via Xbox Games Store; so far thirty-two maps have been released for Gears of War 4 making it one of the biggest Gears of Wars multiplayer experiences.

Mercy is a re-imagined version of the Gears of War 3 map, a battle ground map that is also the hometown of Dominic Santiago’s wife, Maria. Mercy is now covered in snow with winter on its way out. Sadly, Mercy is yet again under siege. Mercy will still be predominantly outdoors providing very limited cover, so watch out for those vicious mortar strikes.

The second new Gears of War 4 map for September is Harbor Haze, an altered version of the other Gears of War 4 map Harbor. Harbor Haze is covered in a mist that rolls across the map, reducing visibility; surprise attacks can come out of nowhere, so players will have to be on guard or will end up in an early grave. A fog horn will sound when the fog starts to roll in similar to the Gears of War 2 map, Avalanche. The longshot and Embar are replaced by a Torque Bow, Bolo Grenades replace the Dropshot, and Boltoks replace the Markzas.

Each map cost roughly five dollars a piece so if you wanted to buy multiple maps, it would be better to buy the season pass. The newest update to Gear of War 4 added 20 new achievements that added an additional 500 gamerscore. The new achievements are more early playthrough achievements focusing on players completing the campaign and leveling up in multiplayer. Season 2 of Ranked multiplayer will start midway through September and will grant players Season 1 rewards.
