Daddy Gamer Episode 08: DragonLance Movie

Daddy Gamer Episode 08: DragonLance Movie

DragonLance helped define me as a person. I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, Kingskiller Chronicles, Forgotten Realms, Dungeons and Dragons, and by extension of that tabletop gaming in general. My love for these stories led to a love for storytelling, which heavily influences my life today! I love that I have a job that enables and requires me to tell stories, even if it’s a simple commercial. My career has given me the tools and skills to even create Daddy Gamer! DragonLance led to so much in my life, and I didn’t even realize it till I started making this episode!

Being such a big fan you can imagine I was pretty excited to learn of a movie coming out of the first book, Dragons of Autumn Twilight. You can then imagine my disappointment when after following the production updates basically since its announcement it turned out…

Bad.

It was fun to look at the books and the movie again in a new light as someone older, who has played their fair share of tabletop RPGS. These books get even more fun when you imagine these characters being played by a group playing D&D at the table. Certain things become very amusing when placed the context of rolling a natural 20, or even a 1. This even made the DragonLance movie more enjoyable, well laughable anyway. I hope the quality of the movie doesn’t deter anyone from reading these books, they really are simply fun to read. I did know that the movie would lead to some laughs. So sit back and enjoy with us, the DragonLance Movie!

Unable to label, In a moment of particular brilliance realized that he could combine all of his major passions into one! Locking himself away in the den he went to work. Almost breaking under the pressure of self criticism he was finished… Thus Daddy Gamer was born!
