Pokémon GO Halloween Event Arrives This Week With The First Ruby & Sapphire Pokémon

Niantic has confirmed, in a blog post on the official Pokémon GO website, that this year’s Halloween event will begin tomorrow, October 20th and run through November 2nd. This celebration will bring with it many surprises, including the first Pokémon from Ruby and Sapphire and a special Pikachu, because who doesn’t want more Pikachus?!

As for the new Pokémon arriving with this event, Niantic mentions that Sableye, Banette, and “a few other Ghost-type Pokémon originally discovered in the “Hoenn region” will be the first of the bunch to come to the mobile app. In the trailer below, you can also see Dusclops, Duskull, and Shuppet and Niantic has also confirmed that even more Ruby and Sapphire (or Generation 3) Pokémon will “gradually arrive” beginning in December of this year.

As for the special Pikachu, everyone’s favorite electric mouse will be sporting a new Halloween hat which will only be available for this event. In addition, players will earn double candy for catching, hatching, or walking Pokémon and, in what is probably my favorite addition, a Mimikyu Disguise hat will be available to dress up your avatar.

That’s not all, as “spooky” Pokémon like Gastly, Drowzee, and Cubone will appear more frequently to be caught. Super Incubators will also make a return to the shop, and will allow eggs to hatch 1.5 times quicker.

With this news of Generation 3 Pokémon arriving for Pokémon GO, does it entice you to jump back in or continue to play? Do you still play Pokémon GO regularly? I still jump in occasionally, but am hoping for some new challenges or features to keep me coming back for more. Generation 3 is a good start and hopefully the roll-out is smooth and consistent, because I can’t wait to try and capture Kyogre and Groudon and add them to my ever growing roster of Pokémon.
