DONTNOD’s ‘Vampyr’ Webseries Launches Today

The developers behind the anxiously awaited action-RPG, Vampyr, released the first episode of their new webseries today. The series will give fans a closer look into the creative process behind their upcoming game. In Episode One: Making Monsters, produced and realized by Focus Home Interactive’s video department, DONTNOD unveils exclusive gameplay footage while describing their approach and reasons for putting players in the role of a morally-ambiguous predator.

Episode One features more in-depth information about the game’s protagonist (aka vampire predator), Johnathan Reid. As a newly turned vampire, his immortal nature plunges him into a part of society once hidden from his mortal self. He’ll come face to face with other damned creatures: other vampires, ancient Ekons, Vulkods, Skals, and even vampire hunters—all who want to cause his extinction.

Vampyr is set in post-World War I London, nearly destroyed by German zeppelins and ravaged by the Spanish Flu pandemic. Johnathan Reid is a doctor sworn to prevent these people from succumbing to the illness, but he can’t ignore the vampiric blood lust that drives him to feed on the same innocent people. This is the conundrum players will find themselves facing throughout the game: who to sacrifice and who to save. Every kill has consequences, and it’s up to players to balance their need to feed and grow stronger with the rapidly deteriorating city of London.

Other key features of the game include developing a personalized combat style through a wide range of crafted weapons and powerful vampire abilities.

Each 5-minute episode will air every Thursday, so be sure to give Focus Home Interactive and DONTNOD all the follows. You can also find more information on the webseries via the Vampyr website. Vampyr will release in Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
