‘Kingdom Hearts III’ Reveals Monstropolis at D23 Expo Japan 2018

Kingdom Hearts 3 D23 information

Over the weekend, Disney fans attending the D23 Expo Japan 2018 show got their first look at one of the new Disney worlds coming to Kingdom Hearts III. The two trailers show off the monster forms of Sora, Donald, and Goofy as they try to blend in with the other residents of Monstropolis, and new details from other worlds.

During their epic adventure, Sora and his companions join forces with Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan, with a special appearance by Boo. The Fright Team all-stars lend their scaring talents and special combination attacks to help combat the enemies who are attacking Monstropolis.

Square Enix also revealed new cutscenes and gameplay from the Toy Story-inspired world. Disney Princess Rapunzel makes her debut as a party member, while Ariel shows up as part of the link system. Previous Kingdom Hearts series villains Marluxia and Vanitas also make returning appearances.

Fans were also treated to a second trailer teasing a mysterious exchange between Riku and King Mickey, and the announcement of a new theme song. The theme is sung by series veteran singer Hikaru Utade, and is entitled “Don’t Think Twice.”

There is still no official release date for Kingdom Hearts III, however Square Enix promised it will be some time in 2018. The game is planned for release on the Xbox One family of consoles and the PlayStation 4 system. The game also is not yet rated. However, previous games in the series were rated E10, making that a probable target for this game also.

The first Kingdom Hearts game was released in March 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2 console. Since then, the series has gone to ship over 22 million units worldwide. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, a GameBoy Advance spinoff set between KH1 and KH2, was released in 2004. The sequel, Kingdom Hearts II, was released for PlayStation 2 in 2005. A bewildering array of spin-offs, compilations, and remixes have since been released across Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
