Snail Games’ Multiplayer VR Adventure, ‘ARK Park,’ Launching March 22

Ross Gellers and John Hammonds of the world, rejoice.

Publisher and developer Snail Games is bringing ARK: Survival Evolved fans a VR adventure in the same universe—ARK Park. ARK Park will allow HTC Vive, PSVR, and Oculus Rift users to interact with the same magnificent and astonishing creatures “face-to-face” through a series of VR-powered theme-park attractions.

ARK Park takes the world of ARK: Survival Evolved into a wonderful and haunting new direction,” said Tianqi Wu, Vice President of Snail Games. “It embraces virtual reality while offering players the tight gameplay mechanics from its predecessor. We’re thrilled to deliver Snail Games’ first VR title to our fans in March—and we couldn’t be more pleased with the team’s hard work throughout the development of ARK Park.”

Designed from the ground-up as a realistic dinosaur theme park simulation, ARK Park allows players to freely traverse the grounds without any restrictions. There’s no set plot or schedule to follow; players can choose when and where to go next at all times, exploring the prehistoric park at their own pace. Some key features of the game include: exploring a variety of maps without a linear storyline; collecting and incubating eggs; finding and trading materials such as dinosaur DNA to craft items and weapons; and defending the park from rampaging dinosaurs, a-la Jurassic Park-style.

ARK Park also features exhilarating combat in story mode, where players can expect to defend themes against herds of rampaging dinosaurs with custom weaponry, as well as the ability to collect genes and breed dinosaurs. Of course, multiplayer is an option, too. Anyone who has experienced many excursions and raids in ARK: Survival Evolved knows how crucial good teamwork is for many parts of the game.

Two editions will be available at launch: standard and deluxe. The deluxe version includes extra outfits, along with an exclusive dinosaur mount. ARK Park will release Thursday, March 22 during the Game Developers Conference. For more information, check out the ARK Park Steam page.
