‘Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers’ Board Game Launches on Kickstarter

Today, tabletop game company, Shinobi 7, LLC, announced their Kickstarter campaign launch for their new board game, Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers, a pre-painted miniatures racing board game for 2-5 players. Players will be able to choose between Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, Tails, and Dr. Eggman to zoom to the finish line ahead of their opponents, assuming they avoid opposing racers and a variety of dangerous obstacles, of course.

Dr. Eggman can be played as a boss instead of a racer, too, for those players who feel racing against each other just isn’t challenging enough. Players will also need to utilize special powers and abilities to collect as many rings as they can to ensure their victory. Untimely Badniks—Buzz Bombers, Crabmeat, Moto Bugs, and Spinners—will make it their mission to ruin any racer’s lead.

Also included in the game are a variety of colorful cards, tokens, and race tracks. Each character comes with a profile card that contains the Racer’s unique special Ability, Power, and is used to track the Racer’s speed and how many rings they collect. Every expansion set will contain one pre-painted character miniature and their racer profile, while larger expansions will also be available and will include additional track sections so no two game will be alike. The Kickstarter campaign will also feature various exclusives and limited edition items, like a Super Sonic playable character miniature. All miniatures will be 40mm scale.

The campaign for Sonic the Hedgehog: Battle Racers will end on and will need $50,000 to be successfully funded. At the time of publishing this article, the team at Shinobi 7, LLC raised $8,735 in under 24 hours. Check out the Kickstarter here.
